Summary
Activities
- Planned: Ghost of the Gravel in Cochrane, AB, 118 km key gravel race. Race day only, no added training load outside warm-up.
Coach Luca
- Composition time: 06:30 America/Edmonton, athlete-local 06:30 America/Edmonton.
- Readiness state: Unconfirmed.
- Specialist participation decided before drafting: recovery, nutrition, and endurance consulted; strength not consulted because today's prescription is race execution only, with no separate gym or strength-loading decision.
Readiness
No overnight or same-morning athlete check-in was visible after the most recent saved evening-summary evidence, and there is no fresh confirmation of how yesterday's opener ride was absorbed overnight. The current-day canonical log did not yet exist, so the most recent canonical daily log, 2026-06-26, was used for Recovery and Nutrition review; ## Recovery, ## Strength, and ## Nutrition are empty there, so specialist input is stale for same-morning readiness purposes. Travel schedule and today's calendar confirm the athlete is in Cochrane, AB for Ghost of the Gravel race day, and Hashimoto's plus back or SI watch items were checked with no new symptom report surfaced.
Planning
Today stays fully inside race-day intent and the dated calendar entry: no extra training load, only warm-up plus race execution. Because readiness is unconfirmed and race day is already the top-load event, the athlete note keeps the structure simple and execution-led, with no escalation beyond the planned race demands. The standalone nutrition plan file athlete/logs/daily-nutrition/2026-06-27.md is absent, so race-morning and in-race fueling guidance was included directly in the athlete note.
Evidence
Required read order completed before drafting. Inbound athlete-message review found no overnight or early-morning readiness check-in for today. Recovery and Nutrition review used the most recent canonical daily log, 2026-06-26, because today's log was missing; both sections are empty, so there is no fresh same-morning specialist signal. athlete/rolling-7-day.md is stale for this date and does not cover June 27, so it was read as required but the current 3-week outline plus today's calendar entry were used to resolve the race-day prescription. The morning-plan skill names athlete/travel-schedule.md, but the canonical travel source in this workspace is athlete/context/travel-schedule.md, which confirms June 24 to June 28 in Cochrane, AB for Ghost of the Gravel race week. The most recent visible canonical evening summary remains 2026-06-03, so prior-evening context is materially stale. Weather was fetched for Cochrane, AB via Open-Meteo after location confirmation; current conditions at 06:30 were 11.7°C with drizzle and light wind, and the day forecast is 18.1°C / 11.6°C with rain risk and max wind about 20.8 km/h.

Today's Plan
**Readiness:** Unconfirmed, no same-morning check-in and specialist input is stale, so keep the day disciplined and execution-first.
**Race day:** Ghost of the Gravel
**Warm-up:**
25 to 30 min easy build, then 3 x 1 min up to race pressure with full easy recovery, then 2 to 3 x 10 to 12 sec sharp openers. Finish the warm-up feeling awake, not loaded, and leave a few quiet minutes before staging.
**Execution anchors:**
Fuel from the first 20 min, not after the race settles. Stay controlled enough in the opening sectors to keep position, traction, and breathing under control. Use climbs and rough sections to apply pressure only when fueling and breathing are still tidy, and keep enough composure to race the final hour.
**Fueling:**
Use a familiar low-fibre GF and DF breakfast 3 to 4 h before the start. Take 30 g carbohydrate with water 30 to 45 min before staging, then one gel or equivalent 10 to 15 min before the gun. In the race, target 90 to 100 g carbohydrate per hour from practised products, 700 to 1000 mg sodium per hour, and 600 to 800 mL fluid per hour, adjusted to conditions. No new products and no waiting too long to start eating.
**Weather:**
Cochrane, AB 🌧️
18°C / 12°C, rain
Cool and damp from the start, with showers in the area and enough wind on exposed sections to matter.
If the course stays wet, protect traction and equipment early, stay calm through the first selections, and do not burn matches just to chase noise.
**Watch items:**
Back or SI symptoms, GI pushback once intake starts, or early signs that wet conditions are driving unnecessary tension. If any of that builds beyond mild, simplify and protect clean execution.
