2026-09-22
Summary
- Morning plan saved for another conservative Rochester lead-in reset day, holding Sep 22 to easy endurance because Sidney still has not confirmed post-Canmore freshness, soreness, sleep, appetite, hydration, or yesterday's actual ride response.
Activities
- Planned: Easy endurance reset, 1:00-1:15, Z1 to low Z2, on pavement, smooth gravel, or trainer.
- Working location: Canmore, AB, using the last concrete city-level race-week evidence after the required morning location checks left today's city partly ambiguous.
- Planning constraint: no same-morning athlete reply, no fresh specialist note, stale rolling files, and unconfirmed Sep 21 ride response keep the day conservative.
Coach Luca
- Composition time: 06:30 America/Edmonton, athlete-local working time 06:30 America/Edmonton from current location evidence.
- Readiness state: Unconfirmed.
- Specialist participation decided before drafting: recovery, nutrition, and endurance consulted. Recovery is required because freshness, soreness, sleep carryover, tissue response, and Hashimoto's watch items remain materially relevant. Nutrition is required because the note includes explicit pre-ride and recovery fueling guidance, and no standalone nutrition plan exists for today. Endurance is required because today's session prescription, duration ceiling, and outdoor versus trainer contingency are non-trivial. Strength was not consulted because no same-day gym or strength-loading decision is being made.
Inbound check-in
- Received: 2026-09-22 10:09 America/Toronto
- Event type: Athlete self-check-in
- Message assessment: recovery-relevant training question with clear near-term planning impact
Luca I race Saturday and Sunday last weekend in Rochester for the USCX cyclocross series. Next weekend I am racing the USCX races in Roanoke, Thursday I will travel to Roanoke and Friday I will pre ride the course. What training should I do today and tomorrow? My legs are still quite tired and sore from the race and I want to flush them out
Interpretation
Sidney is asking for a two-day recovery-led prescription and explicitly reports lingering race fatigue and soreness. That supports keeping both today and tomorrow in flush-only territory, with no added intensity, and it keeps the lead-in to Roanoke conservative. The key decision is not whether to load the week, but how aggressively to protect freshness while still moving the legs.
Draft reply
Today: 45 to 60 minutes very easy, Z1 to low Z2, high cadence, flat terrain or trainer, no tempo, no starts, no surges. If the legs feel worse after 15 to 20 minutes, cap it early and keep it truly recovery-only.
Tomorrow: either 40 to 50 minutes easy spin or full rest if the soreness is still heavy. Keep it light, stay off the gas, and prioritize sleep, fluids, and carbs so Thursday travel and Friday pre-ride start from a fresher place.
Readiness
Sleep, perceived freshness, illness and immune status, travel disruption, non-training stress, Hashimoto's watch items, previous-day session outcome, and nutrition-hydration status were checked against the visible record and the readiness protocol. No same-morning athlete check-in is visible, no fresh same-morning specialist note is available, and yesterday's easy reset plus the fuller post-Canmore absorption picture remain unconfirmed. No direct illness, injury, or Hashimoto's flare signal is visible, but the missing live readiness evidence keeps today Unconfirmed. Under that state, the morning pass keeps the Rochester lead-in conservative and does not restore meaningful load.
Planning
The required rolling files were read in order, but athlete/rolling-7-day.md and athlete/rolling-3-week.md remain stale June planning context and do not provide usable Sep 22 detail. No dated calendar file exists for athlete/calendar/2026-09-22.md. After the required read order, the most current planning evidence remained athlete/assessments/2026-09-14-weekly-self-assessment.md and athlete/assessments/2026-09-21-weekly-self-assessment.md, which say to protect recovery early this week and only restore meaningful race-week load if freshness, sleep, and appetite are clearly back. The morning pass therefore uses another easy endurance reset as the ceiling, with an early stop or trainer fallback if race soreness, heaviness, or lower-leg symptoms appear.
Evidence
Required read order completed before drafting. Athlete identity and communication preferences were confirmed from athlete/PROFILE.md, athlete/comms-profile.md, and athlete/delivery-config.md: Sidney McGill, preferred Sidney, username sidney, with direct, concise, technically specific wording preferred. Inbound athlete-message review found no overnight or early-morning Sep 22 check-in, question, complaint, location update, or reply to the open weekly self-assessment prompts in the visible canonical record. Recovery and nutrition review used the most recent canonical daily log, athlete/logs/daily/2026-09-21.md; both sections there are coordinator-consolidated from yesterday morning and are now stale rather than same-morning specialist notes. athlete/rolling-7-day.md and athlete/rolling-3-week.md were read as required but both remain stale June planning context, so they were treated as background only. The morning-plan skill names athlete/travel-schedule.md, but that file does not exist in this workspace; the active travel source is athlete/context/travel-schedule.md, which supports Alberta as the current region via the tentative Aug 23 or Sep 1 return but does not resolve today's city. Because no current-day athlete message resolves the city and the rolling files are stale, the last concrete city-level evidence remains athlete/calendar/2026-09-13.md, which supports Canmore, AB as the best current working location. The most recent canonical evening summary remains athlete/logs/daily/2026-06-03.md and is materially stale. No standalone nutrition plan exists at athlete/logs/daily-nutrition/2026-09-22.md. Weather was fetched for Canmore, AB via Open-Meteo after location review; at 06:30 MDT it is 10.9°C and overcast, with a day forecast of 22.3°C / 11.1°C, overcast as the best-fit daily label, 8 percent precipitation probability, and light wind.
Endurance
Coordinator-consolidated status
No dated Sep 22 workout object is visible in the canonical planning files, and the open assessment still says to protect recovery early this week until the athlete response clarifies freshness and any tissue issues. The endurance call for this morning is another short easy reset ride only, with no CX-specific stress, no start work, and no added density.
Recovery
Coordinator-consolidated status
Fresh same-morning recovery input is not available. Post-Canmore heaviness, soreness, sleep response, and any ankle, calf, back, SI, or lower-leg reaction remain unconfirmed, and yesterday's easy ride response is not directly verified. The ride should stay symptom-led, and any signal above mild should shorten the session rather than be pushed through.
Strength
Nutrition
Coordinator-consolidated status
No standalone Sep 22 nutrition plan is present. Treat this as a breakfast-explicit easy day: start fed, add an easy carbohydrate top-up if the ride is early, keep fluids moving through the cool start, and follow the session with a normal recovery meal that clearly covers carbohydrate plus protein.

Morning plan
Today's Plan
**Readiness:** Unconfirmed, no same-morning check-in is visible, yesterday's ride response is still unconfirmed, and freshness, soreness, sleep, and appetite after Canmore are still not directly confirmed.
**Today's plan:**
Easy endurance reset, 1:00-1:15. Ride Z1 to low Z2, RPE 2-3, on pavement, smooth gravel, or trainer. Keep cadence smooth, stay seated on rises, and keep torque low. No starts, no tempo, and no extra volume. If the legs still feel flat or any ankle, calf, back, or SI issue shows up in the first 15-20 minutes, cap it at 0:45-1:00 and keep the whole ride fully easy.
**Fueling:**
Start fed. If you are riding within 2 hours of waking, take 30-45 g easy carbohydrate before you roll. If the ride reaches 60 minutes, take 30-45 g carbohydrate per hour with fluids. Follow it with a normal recovery meal plus 25-30 g protein.
**Weather:**
Canmore, AB ☁️
22°C / 11°C, overcast
Cool at the start, dry through the day, and only a light breeze.
The weather supports an outdoor easy ride, but keep the route simple and non-technical so this stays a reset session, not a load day.
**Monitor:**
Leg heaviness, poor sleep carryover, appetite suppression, or any ankle, calf, back, or SI irritation. If any of that is more than mild, shut it down early and flag it before tomorrow.

Notes
- Location remains partially ambiguous in the durable sources. The travel schedule supports Alberta broadly, while the last concrete city-level race-week evidence still supports Canmore, AB as the best working location.
- The latest planning evidence is the open weekly self-assessment file from 2026-09-21, which still says to protect recovery early this week until athlete freshness is confirmed.
Open items
- Await the athlete's weekly self-assessment reply about how the Canmore week actually landed.
- Confirm whether the Sep 21 session happened and how it was absorbed.
- Confirm current city and Rochester travel, equipment, and timing before the week hardens.
