Constraints

Weekly Life Constraints

  • Work / school schedule: No fixed work schedule constraints reported
  • Family constraints: None reported
  • Non-training obligations: None reported
  • Sleep constraints: None reported
  • Travel constraints: Currently in Victoria, BC (until Apr 30). Shanghai trip May 2–16 (no road bike access).

Training Constraints

  • Maximum realistic weekly hours: No upper limit set by athlete. Coach-recommended ceiling: 12–15 hours at peak, scaled to current phase.
  • Minimum realistic weekly hours: No lower limit. During travel or recovery, 0 hours is acceptable.
  • Available training windows: Flexible — no fixed schedule constraints
  • Indoor training availability: Unknown — needs confirmation for Victoria and Edmonton
  • Outdoor terrain availability: Victoria: road riding available. Edmonton: road and trail riding. Shanghai: running only, no bike.
  • Weather constraints: Victoria (Apr): mild, rideable. Edmonton (May onward): improving spring/summer. Shanghai (May): warm and humid.

Equipment and Logistics

  • Primary bike(s): Road bike (home base Edmonton). Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT head unit.
  • Trainer access: Unknown — needs confirmation
  • Gym access: Unknown — needs confirmation for current location. Hotel gym expected in Shanghai.
  • Strength equipment access: Unknown — confirm for Victoria and Edmonton
  • Power meter: Present on bike but not transmitting data to Wahoo since return (configuration issue). Must resolve.
  • Heart rate monitor: Present but not recording on Wahoo since return (configuration issue). Must resolve.
  • Other relevant tools: TrainingPeaks (primary training platform)

Health Constraints

  • Injury restrictions: None active
  • Medical restrictions: Hashimoto's thyroiditis — ongoing management, no acute restrictions
  • Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free and dairy-free. Nutrition records must explicitly evaluate gluten and dairy compatibility for every food item. Default to uncertain when ingredient identity is incomplete.
  • Nutrition considerations: Likes Medjool dates and peanut butter. These are good candidate foods to use in snack planning and, where appropriate, dates can be used as part of an on-bike carbohydrate strategy.
  • Recovery limitations: Hashimoto's increases sensitivity to training overload and underrecovery. Conservative load progression is non-negotiable.

Coaching Constraints

  • Communication preference: Telegram
  • Preferred check-in rhythm: Daily morning and evening (Phase 2 daily loop)
  • Best way to deliver sessions: Telegram message via Coach Luca
  • Things to avoid: Overtraining, excessive intensity before base is rebuilt, assumptions about readiness without evidence

Notes

  • Default rest day: Monday
  • During race season, Fridays are typically active recovery days
  • No constraints from Sidney's side were reported by the operator — all listed constraints are coach-recommended based on the current phase and health profile
