Coach preparation
Weekly positives
- The athlete is fully back in a real training environment after the Shanghai interruption and the Edmonton-to-Toronto transition. The block is no longer in travel limbo.
- Nutrition communication improved meaningfully compared with the Shanghai period. Multiple meals were logged across May 18-25, which is a real step up from the earlier blackout.
- The week under review contained the first proper structure of the rebuild: re-entry endurance, a first tempo test, Toronto restart tempo, and the first long endurance ride of the block.
- The current week is clearly laid out with race-relevant progression: threshold today, seated torque tomorrow, sweet spot Thursday, long gravel pressure Saturday.
- Sidney appears to be tolerating normal rhythm well enough that the program has moved out of pure re-entry language and into a real build week.
Weekly concerns
- Training outcome visibility is still weak. Nutrition updates arrived, but actual ride execution remains largely unconfirmed across May 22-24. There are almost no direct athlete ride reports and no usable same-day TrainingPeaks confirmation path in this workspace.
- Back status is still unresolved. The back remained a live watch item through the Edmonton re-entry days, and there is still no clear fresh athlete statement on where it sits now after travel and the first harder sessions back.
- Recovery-day evidence gap on May 24. The canonical daily log for May 24 is missing, so the recovery spin, movement reset, intake, and general freshness reset before today's threshold work are all unverified.
- Fueling consistency is better than the Shanghai period, but still not reliable enough for this build. Several days still finished light, incomplete, or unclear relative to the planned load, especially around travel and recovery.
- Communication is active for food logging more than training feedback. That is helpful, but for coaching judgment this week, body response, leg feel, fatigue, and schedule friction matter just as much as meal photos.
- This week's density is now real. Threshold, torque, endurance plus gym, sweet spot, and a long gravel pressure ride all sit in one week. If last week did not absorb well, this week should be adjusted early rather than after a flat Thursday or Saturday.
Ranked talking points
- How did last week actually land? The file record shows the plan, but not the athlete's felt response to it.
- Back status right now. Has it resolved, improved, or is it still something she notices during or after riding?
- Where does she feel progress versus drag? That is the cleanest way to assess whether the build is landing or just being survived.
- What needs accounting for this week? Fatigue, sleep, schedule, travel residue, fueling, motivation, or any non-training friction.
- Does anything in the current week need protecting, trimming, or pushing? This matters before Thursday sweet spot and Saturday long gravel pressure.
Open questions
- What felt best last week once riding resumed in a more normal way?
- Where did the week feel flat, heavy, awkward, or more limited than expected?
- How is the back sitting now after travel and the first harder sessions back?
- Did the Toronto restart and first long ride feel like normal training again, or still like re-entry?
- Is there anything this week should account for on the life or logistics side?
- If one session or one constraint needs to be adjusted this week, which one is it?
Forward-looking planning checkpoints
- Mon May 25: Threshold with 3 x 12 min at 95-100% FTP. This is the first true threshold-extension session of the post-China block and the cleanest same-week readiness test.
- Tue May 26: Endurance with 4 x 8 min seated torque. If threshold lands hard today, this is the first place to trim load.
- Wed May 27: Endurance plus a short neural strength maintenance session. Good day to preserve rhythm without adding major fatigue.
- Thu May 28: Sweet spot 2 x 20 min. This is the key density session of the week and should only proceed fully if Monday and Tuesday were absorbed well.
- Fri May 29: True recovery day. Important not to let it become disguised training.
- Sat May 30: Long gravel endurance with 2 x 25 min pressure blocks. This is one of the first real cornerstone rides of the Ghost build.
- Sun May 31: Easy to steady endurance with cadence resets. Should help absorb Saturday rather than stack fatigue.
Specialist-sensitive prompts
- Endurance: the question is no longer whether the athlete can ride again, but whether she is absorbing the actual build progression cleanly enough to keep moving forward this week.
- Nutrition: food logging improved, but the main concern is consistency around key sessions and recovery days, not isolated meals.
- Recovery: the missing May 24 recovery-day record and unresolved back status leave a real uncertainty going into threshold and sweet spot density.
- Strength: Wednesday's maintenance session is only useful if it stays low cost and the back remains quiet.
Conversation goals
- Get Sidney's direct read on how last week actually landed rather than relying on planned structure alone
- Resolve current back status in simple athlete language
- Identify whether this week's build should proceed as written, stay conservative, or be adjusted early
- Surface any schedule, recovery, or fueling friction that should shape the next five days
- Re-center the conversation on coaching decisions, not just logging completeness

Weekly check-in, Sid.
You've had a pretty compressed stretch here: back from Shanghai, a few days in Edmonton, then straight into Toronto and the first proper build sessions. Before I lock in the rest of this week, I want your read on how that all actually landed.
A few quick ones:
What felt best last week?
Where did you feel flat, off, or more limited than expected?
How is the back sitting right now, especially after the travel and the first harder work back?
Is there anything this week needs to account for on your side - fatigue, sleep, legs, fueling, schedule, or anything else?
If there's one thing you want changed, protected, or pushed this week, tell me that too.

Unresolved items
- Back status remains unconfirmed in fresh athlete language
- May 22-24 ride execution remains only partially evidenced in the workspace
- May 24 recovery spin, movement reset, and intake are unverified because the canonical daily log is missing
- Current-week load tolerance is inferred from planning artifacts more than direct athlete reporting
- Whether Thursday sweet spot and Saturday long gravel should proceed fully still depends on how Sidney says last week landed
