Dietary Safety Triggers
Athlete scope
Check the active athlete's constraints file (athlete/constraints.md) for their specific dietary restrictions before applying these triggers. Restrictions vary by athlete. The trigger lists below are reusable defaults; applicability is determined by the active athlete's profile.
Default rule
- If ingredient identity is incomplete, default gluten and dairy status to
uncertain. Compatiblerequires label evidence, athlete confirmation, or a previously confirmed recurring food.Incompatibleshould be used when a trigger ingredient is clearly present or strongly implied.
Common gluten triggers
- soy sauce or unverified marinades
- breading, crumbs, batter, or crusts without confirmed gluten-free identity
- restaurant sauces, gravies, or glaze components
- sausages, processed meats, or deli meats without ingredient confirmation
- protein powders, bars, and supplements without label confirmation
- oats or granola when gluten-free certification is not confirmed
Common dairy triggers
- creamy dressings, cream sauces, or aioli-style preparations
- pesto or blended green sauces with likely parmesan or cheese
- visible cheese, yogurt, milk, whey, butter, or cream
- cheese substitutes without ingredient confirmation
- protein powders without confirmed non-dairy ingredient list
- restaurant cross-contact environments where dairy ingredients are common
Cross-contact rules
- Restaurant meals with incomplete ingredient visibility should not be treated as low-risk by default.
- Use
Cross-contact risk: moderateorhighwhen shared prep surfaces, fryer oil, or sauce stations are plausible. - Lower cross-contact risk only when the product is packaged and identity is clear, or the athlete confirms safe preparation.
Revision rule
- If the athlete later clarifies ingredients, brand, or label details, update the durable record rather than creating a conflicting duplicate safety judgment.
