Product verification
Use this reference for during-session fueling, hydration, and recovery product lists. Product formulations change; verify packaging when possible and avoid any product that cannot be made confidently compatible with the athlete's documented dietary requirements.
Generally suitable during-session options
- Maurten drink mixes and gels: often suitable for many restriction profiles; verify current packaging.
- SiS Beta Fuel and Go Isotonic gels: verify current packaging and flavor.
- Skratch Labs Sport Hydration Drink Mix: verify flavor-specific labels.
- Precision Fuel and Hydration chews, gels, and drink mix: verify packaging.
- Untapped maple gels and waffles: verify product type, flavor, ingredients, and cross-contact language.
- Dates, maple syrup flasks, salted rice cakes, boiled potatoes with salt: suitable homemade options when prepared with ingredients that match the athlete's requirements.
Use only with flavor-specific verification
- Spring Energy: verify each flavor because ingredients vary.
- GU Energy and Roctane: verify current flavor and ingredient list for milk-derived ingredients and gluten risk.
- Clif Bloks: verify current label for milk/gluten cross-contact language.
- Tailwind: verify flavor and label.
- Honey Stinger: avoid standard waffles unless GF status is explicit; verify chews and gels by flavor.
Recovery products
- Pea/rice protein blends can work well when label-verified for the athlete's requirements.
- Vega Sport, NOW Sports Pea Protein, Naked Pea, and similar plant proteins may be suitable when the current label confirms compatibility.
- Tart cherry juice can be used when single-ingredient or label-verified for the athlete's requirements.
- Beet juice can be used for nitrate loading only when timing and event context support it.
Avoid by default
- Whey, casein, milk protein isolate, lactose-containing recovery mixes, chocolate milk, dairy yogurt drinks.
- Bars or chews with wafer layers unless label-verified for the athlete's requirements.
- Any product with unclear natural flavors, shared-line warnings, or incomplete allergen information when safer options are available.
Verification wording
Use this plain-text style in the plan:
Verified options matching athlete requirements: [products and homemade options]. Verify flavor-specific labels for [products needing verification] before use.
If a product is known to be unsuitable in the current athlete context, name it in the Avoid sentence and state why.
